Prenatal Care
In March of 2019, Dr. Amanda traveled to Vancouver, BC to complete a prenatal and perinatal chiropractic care training and obtain her certification of Proficiency in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association .
International Chiropractic Pediatric Association
The Webster Technique is a chiropractic analysis and treatment method specific to pregnant women. The goal of the Webster technique is to reduce the effects of spinal subluxation, particularly in the hips and pelvis, and in doing so improve neurological as well as biomechanical function in this area.
In reducing musculoskeletal imbalance and tension, this technique may also support optimal positioning of the fetus in the uterus. The treamtent itself includes safe, gentle chiropractic manipulation as well as manual soft tissue techniques. The benefits of receiving Webster technique throughout pregnancy are many, but include the following:
Decreased physical pain, often associated with pregnancy
Increased spinal alignment particularly of the lower back, hips, and pelvis, offering greater potential for optimal positioning of baby in the uterus
Increased nervous system functioning of both mother and baby
Increased pelvic and core muscle tone, which assists in birthing
Increased blood flow and healing
Decreased uterus torsion
A more balanced sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest, heal, digest) nervous system
Stress reduction for both mother and baby
Reduced labor times and pain, as revealed in research study done by Dr. Joan Fallon
